Of Course! This is definitely an option, however, these chargers only charge at around 2.3kWh! To put that into perspective a Tesla Model 3 has a 60kWh battery, this means it would take 26 hours to charge from 0% to 100%! This in itself will cause much more wear and tear on the socket outlet you use meaning it may start to be affected by thermal damage.

This question is a bit of a “how long is a piece of string” answer! All EV’s and Hybrids have different battery capacities. The easiest way to work out how long it will take to charge is to find out the capacity of your vehicles battery is and divide that by 7.2! Domestic EV chargers can charge at a rate of 7.2kW. To use the Tesla example from above that would mean 60kW divided by 7.2 which equals 8.33. This means you could charge a Tesla Model 3 from 0% to 100% in 8hrs and 20  minutes.

Almost all charger installations are completed within a day. Those with simple cable routes could be up and running within a couple of hours! Those with more difficult routes may take 4hrs+. We will however always keep power on to the house until we are ready to finalise the install, at which point the power should be off for a maximum of 30 minutes.

Yes! AVB Electrical do not offer EV installs without having first completed an on-site survey. Many larger companies will price your EV charger based on information on a request form. This however tends to lead to issues with installations or prices rising due to “extra works” being required. This means you get a full picture of what is required and what options you have available based on your needs.

No, you won’t HAVE to change your tariff, however that doesn’t mean you SHOULDN’T! All EV chargers will work on standard tariffs however this isn’t the most economical way to charge your EV or Hybrid. Making use of reduced unit rates overnight to charge your vehicle will mean the cost of charging your vehicle will be significantly reduced!
